Rob Ot

The robotic competition is two days’ away. My fingers need soaking in a bucket of ice after assembling the robot with two other teammates for two hours today. The programming process is proving to be a little too tedious. My team (inclusive of the teacher) are all girls/females. And girls are known for their adeptness in robotic construction and computer programming, are they not? (This is your cue to snort.)
Oh boy.

Forgive me. I needed to kvetch a little.

Ah, The Irony

Posted by wordsmith at June 12th, 2008

by wordsmith

I cried and cried today because I stubbed my toe. Just kidding. Although, I think I had a reason to. My handphone/mobile phone/cell phone/handset got stolen at school today. I brought it to school because I had to stay back at school a while to construct the robot with my teammates and needed to contact my mother. I don’t usually bring my handphone to school because it is a school violation. I only brought it today for a very valid reason and wasn’t planning on using it until after school hours.

The first two class periods today had been Chemistry and my whole class shuffled to the Chemistry lab. Upon returning back to my seat in class, I discovered that the zip of the compartment on my bag in which I had kept my handphone was open. I peered inside and my handphone was AWOL. I didn’t know why but I wasn’t upset in the least bit. A friend surmised that it was probably my disability of expressing sadness. Anyhow, it’s been said that people who’ve owned handphones for a while find it impossible to function normally without it even for a day. I’ll see if I can.

I have to hand it to the culprit, though. Seriously. Out of all the hundreds of bags in school today, the perpetrator had the dumb luck of culling my bag to rummage through and obtaining more than said criminal bargained for. I hope the culprit has a tough time cracking the pin number on my handphone -which, trust me, isn’t hard at all because I hadn’t changed the extremely easy pin number set by the manufacturer since I received it. I still think the student/thief could’ve done a better job by zipping the compartment completely shut.

This was definitely a case of irony because some students bring their handphones to school daily but no such tragedy has befallen them thus far. Both my parents weren’t mad at all -which was quite a surprise. My mother muttered something about her friend’s kid losing a car, so my situation wasn’t as bad. True. And my father just agreed to terminate my handphone number when I told him to before my handphone number got abused. My brother even knew how to prevent the perpetrator from even using the handphone completely on the condition that I find something that’s probably been recycled by now. Aiyaya.

My only regret is not transferring the pictures on my handphone to my PDA because they are now unretractable. And I need an alarm clock from tomorrow onwards to wake up in time for school. My handphone number is now null and void. I don’t know if I’ll be able to have a new one anytime soon…but I’ll live.

Life Lately

Posted by wordsmith at May 30th, 2008

by wordsmith

My life has been great lately.

Quakes have struck countries. I’m in the refuge of God and my own home. Food supply has been running short for many people. I’ve been consuming nutritious food for every meal of the day. Families have been torn apart. My parents nag at my brother and me daily. Parents have been devastated by the loss of their children. My parents nag at my brother and me daily. Homes have been completely destroyed to ruins. I had a good night’s sleep yesterday. Victims of the quake have been buried under the rubble. I have been buried under the comfortable duvet on my bed. Victims don’t know if they’ll even see tomorrow. I don’t know if I want to see my exam grades.

Yep. I’d say my life is better off than I would have ever known. I know I have got it good and I probably always have -I just fail to realise it more than I acknowledge and appreciate it. Sorry for a pretty (or downright) boring post. I just had to snap myself awake.

S-O-R-R-Y

Something has happened to the template of this blog right after I posted the post below this. I know I am the obvious suspect for modifying the layout. But I honestly don’t know what happened to it. The segments on the right are now at the bottom of the page. I don’t think I’d be that smart to change the placements. Also, I don’t think I’m that brave to do what isn’t my job here. If I really did cause the damages, I truly apologise. I don’t know what I did. I clicked Publish and this happened.
And if there seems to be nothing wrong with the template whatsoever and I seem to be making no sense at all, please let me know and I’ll delete this post. Forgive me. As I’m typing this, the template seems to be anything but not wrong. But maybe it has reverted back to its usual state and merely wanted to fool me. Or not.

Sorry. Again.

My high school life is getting a bit hectic. I’d like to say I wish I could go back in time and be a first-former again, but in truth, I wouldn’t really want to. In a way, I’m glad I’m moving forward instead of backward. I accept the multitude of tasks I’m laden with these days. I’ve had my share of good times. I’m taking the challenge full-throttle and head-on.

OK. That wasn’t the whole truth. In reality, I feel just like this dude:

The only difference is I can swim. And I’m not a cat. This comforts me.

When in Dire Need of Sleep…

Posted by wordsmith at March 20th, 2008

(by wordsmith)

don’t count sheep.

I had been lacking sleep for the past several days (old news) and really wanted to get a good night’s sleep last night -but to no avail. I tried counting sheep before I stopped at the 6th sheep. Why? Well, for one, I have a bad imagination. I doubt those were sheep jumping over the fence. And I doubt it was a fence in the first place. Moreover, I was getting more awake by the sheep.

In the end, what I did was allow my mind to painfully wander to the #1 (in my opinion) sleep-inducing subject of all time: History. Then, snap! I was off to slumber land.

Who ever said History was of no use?

OK -me, that’s who.

5 Questions You Don’t Want to Hear From Your Siblings

Posted by wordsmith at February 17th, 2008

by wordsmith

1 – Uh, are you gonna eat that?
2 – So…who’s the new boy/girl?
3 – Which did you say was your toothbrush again?
4 – Do I look stupid to you?
5 – Do mom and dad know about this?

Truth be told, I actually don’t have a problem if those questions were to arise. And by those questions I meant only for questions 1 and 5. Question 3 has actually been asked.

Repercussions of a Long Holiday

Posted by wordsmith at January 2nd, 2008

by wordsmith

1. The snooze button on the alarm clock becomes a vice;
2. Handwriting becomes a tad illegible;
3. Misplaced brain somewhere in oblivion needs to be tracked down;
4. Busy routine needs to be adapted…again;
5. The days of boredom are long gone;
6. Uniform for some cosmic reason seems smaller than before;
7. Homework is the new best friend;
8. School desk is deluded as comfy pillow;
9. Early to bed; early to rise;
10. Regretting and sighing are common habits.

The above post is mainly directed to schooling people. As much as I have grown accustomed to the aforementioned repercussions, a little adapting is always necessary on my part as the long school holidays (> a month) can do a lot of damage to the brain and mind; especially mine since I have S.A.D…I think.

I am bracing myself for the new school year which begins tomorrow. It is merely just a piece of cake since the only cardinal thing I have to do is sit for my SPM examination and ace it. Hah, piece of cake? Who am I kidding? It’s more like a pizza inundated with cheese, pepperoni and the like. Nasty. Gross. Yuck. Eww. Pure torture.

Greasons Seetings

Christmas is in the offing; the Christmas spirit is befalling. That blissful time of the year is here again and it is getting better every year. For me, that is. As a Christian, the presents, Christmas tree, snow and Santa Claus don’t signify Christmas; not in the least bit. Christmas to me is in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and the greatest gift of all to all of mankind -the gift of Jesus’ Love…which many neglect during Christmas albeit it is the main focus. We should focus.

Nevertheless, in the tradition of Christmas, I practice several customs; like gift-giving. This has always been a problem for me because I don’t have sufficient money to get gifts for everyone due to certain reasons I won’t divulge. Ergo, I usually purchase presents for my family only, unfortunately.

One important thing about giving is to not expect anything in return. Giving becomes true joy the most when it comes from the heart and without any expectations. I learnt this the hard way but am glad I did.

Another Christmas tradition I cultivate is the red-green theme for some ironic and completely oafish reason. And that’s all I’m going to say about it.

If you don’t receive a (materialistic) gift for Christmas, feel sad about it and are aged <10, you can ask Santa for a letter or phone call here. However, if you don’t receive a (materialistic) gift for Christmas, feel sad about it and are aged >11, please don’t do it. (Santa doesn’t exist, dearie.)

I forgot to introduce myself. I abhor pizza. There you go. Oh, and I’m the youngest contributor to this site so please forgive me for my non-insightful musings.

P/S: I am fully aware that the correct term is Seasons Greetings. That typo must have been the keyboard’s fault. Or not.

Merry Christmas! And Seasons Greetings! In advance! Ho ho ho-

I’ll leave now.
